JACEY WITHERS:

Saw this jewellery designers's stand at the exhibiton at 180 The Strand and it really stood out to me. Unfortuantely I wasn't able to photograph any of his work so I pulled these images off Google, but his collection really is AMAZING! Inspired by a mysterious journey to a far away paradise island, the collection features mischevious monkeys, exotic flowers and ethereal mermaids. Favourite pieces for me include a pirate's cutlass necklace and ancient genie lamp earrings. But for me the highlight of the collection is the Treasure chest necklace itself which contains hidden jewels which can either dangle from the open box or worn tucked neatly away inside. Couldn't find a picture of it, but I WANT IT!!

CO-OPERATIVE DESIGNS:

OK, so been on holiday and then sans internet for a week, so excuse the delay but I shall resume fashion week reporting!

Co-Operative Designs, one of Cube's clients, did a presentation of their new collection. Their SS10 stuff is heavily influenced by Bauhaus, and this was appropriately conveyed through their exhibition style, as they used large simple shapes as props and display units.

There was a strong Alice in Wonderland theme, with the giant chequer-board floor, 'eat me' cupcakes and oversized props. Even the liquorice allsorts matched the collection!

The highlight for me was the jewellery, designed by Corrie Williamson, who Co-Operative have collaborated with for many seasons. The combination of perspex and wooden strong, simple shapes created an array of statement jewellery that perfectly complemented the collection.

I WISH DIAMONDS WERE MY BEST FRIEND:

Can't get enough of jewellery designer Jessica McCormack, who I discovered whilst reading this piece in Sunday Times Style.

She has 'made it her mission to make diamonds an everyday, wearable item'; alright for some when this New York ring, for example, will set you back a mere £21,000. All the same, her work is truly beautiful, have look at some of my faves.

A brilliant jewellery designer that caught my eye...uses every day object like a comb and glasses cord.

Reminds me of the latest Links of London advertisments showing their new collection of charm necklaces, one of which is solid silver earbud headphones! Pics coming when I can make my scanner work...

SOPHIE HULME:

One of Cube's clients that I particularly admire is Sophie Hulme, an up-and-coming London designer who graduated with BA in fashion design from Kingston University last year. Hulme has created a very clever recipe and the concept is simple, she sources newly made, traditional military clothing and detailing and translates this into luxury wear by adding key detailing such as sequins, leather and gold chains. This cross over of military and hard edge features with a hint of luxury is an unusual marriage, but works all the same. What I really like is how each collection is represented by a charm pendant, all of which are very appealing and collectable. Apparantly she is creating a full jewellery line which I will be very eager to see...
